Hardware as well as software[edit]

The R1000s were always computer systems with attached terminals! The picture on the page is of a Facit terminal, which was fairly dumb. It had an extra row of "function" keys; you could issue complicated Emacs-style commands with one keystroke. There was a neat overlay that saved you having to remember which key was which!
