Conflict of Interest?[edit]

Professor Scurfield - Please see item #29 on the Noticeboard for issues regarding biographies of living persons. Briefly, Wikipedia discourages individuals from creating articles about themselves (see the conflict of interest policy).

My personal belief regarding your article is that it has been in existence for five years and many parts of the article are written in a relatively neutral manner (see Neutral point of view tutorial), so it would make no sense for Wikipedia to insist that the article be deleted and be rewritten by someone other than yourself.

A more reasonable option, IMHO, would be for you (or a colleague) to edit the article to:

  • remove anything that potentially comes across as promotional
  • ensure that the article does not contain anything that could reasonably be characterized as what Wikipedia is not

Please be sure to read the Noticeboard for issues regarding biographies of living persons, #29 Raymond Monsour Scurfield, which I mentioned above, for relevant background.
