It might have escaped your notice when you were so busy swearing rather than reading that many Irishmen were at war with Imperial Germany. Try reading Irish Volunteers, Ulster Volunteers and Connaught Rangers for a start. Irish nationalism split over the Great War: many went to war to ensure that the Home Rule Act, 1914 got implemented as promised before the war – and some stayed. The 1916 Volunteers were very few and mostly in Dublin: it was the gross overreaction by London that turned a skirmish into all out war. --Red King (talk) 18:56, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
