Image wanted[edit]

There is a promising image of a Recessive Pied Light Green at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Budgerigar_and_glass_bird_on_carpet.jpg which I'd like to use, but without the glass bird! Can anyone help by cropping it out, or advise me what to do?--Trevor37 (talk) 10:39, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Trevor. I've just uploaded a cropped version of that image to Commons for you. File:Melopsittacus undulatus - Recessive Pied mutation - pet on carpet.jpg --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 11:04, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Kurt. Great! Sorry to take so long to add it - I'd omitted to watch this page:( --Trevor37 (talk) 06:58, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, just figured that you were busy or something. What does 'in nest feather' mean, btw?
It means it hasn't yet gone through the first moult. In nest feather the barring on the head comes right down to the cere and the cere of both cocks and hens tends to be the same pinkish colour. After the first moult, which takes place at around 3 months old, the forehead becomes free of barring and the cere colours up blue or brown (in most varieties). --Trevor37 (talk) 10:11, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was browsing Flickr last night and I wondered if one of these images might be useful for the article...

Yes, it would. It's a very clear Recessive Pied. Maybe the close-up showing the solid eye would be good. --Trevor37 (talk) 10:11, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I completely forgot about doing this for you! Oops. My bad. I've now uploaded the image to Commons and added it to the article. I've also uploaded File:Melopsittacus undulatus - pet female recessive pied mutation 2.jpg, which will probably be of use to someone at some point... --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 19:56, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
