Translation of geographical names or not?[edit]

Should we translate geographical names in the article headings, or should we stick to the original ones (or their Latin transcriptions), in this case "Rote Pockau"? --Schlosser67 (talk) 10:42, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The convention is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Germany/Conventions although it doesn't cover this issue. Normally river names are not translated at all unless there is a common English name like Rhine. However, for geographical names including rivers it is quite common practice to translate certain adjectives such as compass directions ("North") or colours ("Red"). --Bermicourt (talk) 10:59, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
