Aha, this article explains why it is not mentioned on Piccadilly Circus or Regent Street. Too bad it is gone. I will take a look if I have any photos of it. If I have them, it would be of 1977... The Banner talk 23:43, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is the hotel closed ?[edit]

I stayed at Regent's Palace for some nights during a vistit in London in 1989. Old-stylish. But rather unike. It was much lager "on the inside, compared to what the exterior suggested. I also visited the pub during a 1997 visit. Why on earth has this becomme closed ? And if demolished - what is build instead ? Is The Royal Horseguards Hotel also closed, by the way. The hotel is closed. The building is still there. It has become a store of some kind. The restaurant is now the Brasserie Zédel (entrance on Sherwood Street), having been for a while a branch of Harry Ramsden's fish and chips. -- Alarics (talk) 19:41, 26 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Brasserie Zedel interiors[edit]

So I've twice added this to the Modern History section and had it reverted, on the grounds that it's 'advertising':

Brasserie Zedel is a restaurant & bars in the basement of the former hotel, with elaborate interiors re-creating its 1930s decor.[1]

(I've since extended this description.) I have no connection with the hotel or Zedel and am not attempting to 'advertise' them. Please assume good faith. The fact that the interiors of the hotel have been re-created is a point of interest; indeed one architectural journal says they are the best such restoration in the UK. The article already had a reference link to the same page on the Brasserie Zedel site (about the history of the interior design etc.) Finally, if you think references to hotels & restaurants (or any products/services) constitutes advertising them, then this article and thousands of similar ones shouldn't exist in the first place. SPAM-alert. The Banner talk 14:55, 25 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OK, do you have any constructive comment on what I said above? You should discuss issues on the talk page rather than just repeatedly reverting. Ben Finn (talk) 16:35, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Checking the internet for the brasserie, I found only 83 Google hits. In the news section, there are only 253 hits, mostly announcements of performers or reviews. That is by no means an indication that the brasserie is notable. For the hotel, the subject of this article, the brasserie is absolutely not relevant as the hotel closed in 2006 and the brasserie opened in 2012. The Banner talk 17:18, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
