He was known as Reginald Wingate, so the article should be at this location and Francis Reginald Wingate a redirect, as it is at present. WP procedure is to call the article by the name by which the person was actually know. -- Necrothesp (talk) 17:51, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All references to the London Gazette in this article are now broken due to changes in urls. I will try to convert them when I have time, making use of {{LondonGazette}} which should help maintenance in future. David Underdown 15:56, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Promotion to captain[edit]

I'm not sure the reference given for regimental rank of captain: "No. 25615". The London Gazette. 10 August 1886., actually says that - it says he's been seconded, rather than promoted and this later Gazettte http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/ViewPDF.aspx?pdf=25623&geotype=London&gpn=4327&type=ArchivedIssuePage&all=&exact=Francis%20Reginald%20Wingate&atleast=&similar= still refers to him as Lieutenant. Perhaps I'm missing something? I've commented out the promotion in the article text for now. David Underdown 13:34, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
