Untitled[edit]

"Regional integration is a process in which states enter into a supranational regional organisation ..." well, im not so sure that the organization must necessarily be supranational. There is amount of reg org without supranational body based fully on intergovernmental decision-making.

Dr. Park has reviewed this Wikipedia page, and provided us with the following comments to improve its quality:

The definition of regional integration seems too narrow (i.e. neighboring states enter into an agreement). European Commission defines "Regional integration is the process of overcoming barriers that divide neighbouring countries, by common accord, and of jointly managing shared resources and assets. Essentially, it is a process by which groups of countries liberalise trade, creating a common market for goods, people, capital and services." It should be based on the concept of region (geographically) and integration that encompasses beyond trade agreements (such as economic, social, political, and institutional linkages). So the definition should refer to a process of gaining interdependence and giving up on a degree of autonomy in economic, social, political, and institutional dimensions among two or more states on a geographically confined scale, below a global level.
ASEAN is a trade bloc and has been reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers to create a single economic community. Pls see below for suggestion.
In recent years, countries within ASEAN, established as a trade bloc in Southeast Asia for example, have increased the level of trade and commodity exchange among themselves by reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers associated with trading with foreign markets.

Nice but somewhat incomplete. For example, the issue of trade diversion generated by RTA is not discussed. Free trade proponents such as Bhagwathi are very critical about RTA. At the very least, this should be mentioned. The gravity equation could explain what there are RTA, and vice versa. This is worth saying.
