regsvr32 may choose that copy instead of the one in the current directory.

Can we be more specific ? May or will? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.221.168.151 (talk) 13:41, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article says:

If another copy of shmedia.dll exists in the system search path, regsvr32 may choose that copy instead of the one in the current directory. This problem can usually be solved by specifying a full path (e.g., c:\windows\system32\shmedia.dll) or using the following syntax:

regsvr32 .\shmedia.dll

When I tried this on Windows 7, "regsvr32 .\shmedia.dll" did not have the same effect as specifying a full path. It found the matching file in the system search path, same as "regsvr32 shmedia.dll" would have done. Was this behavior different on XP or any other version of Windows? If not, the article is mistaken. Stevensrmiller (talk) 20:43, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you want to register a dll? 217.13.240.93 (talk) 09:20, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
