Relics around the world

I would like the communities opinions on whether this page should be organized by the countries that currently possess a relic or if it should attempt a chronological timeline of relic movement. Additional sections are needed for the relics in Afghanistan (Ghandara) Nepal and any other countries that claim to possess relics of Gautama Buddha. Article Name and Scientific Analysis

I called the page relics associated with Buddha to match the page relics associated with Jesus; however the page for Muhammad's relics is just called Relics of Muhammad. These three should probably use the same naming convention. The page for Jesus relics says that modern scholarship strongly doubts the authenticity of any relics; I'm not sure what the scholarly opinion on the Buddha relics would be; however at least one scientific analysis like radio carbon dating would be good to include in the article if anyone can find it. From mahaparinirvana sutta

Here is the dhatu vibhajaniya gatha of Maha-parinirvana-sutta. For accuracy let me quote:

एको अजातसत्तुस्स एको वेसालिया पुरे एको कपिलवत्थम्हि एको च अल्लकप्पके ||

One part went to Ajatshatru (King of Magadh), one to the (Lichchhavis of) city of Veshali, one to (shakyas of) Kapilavastu, one to (the Bullis of) Allakappa;

एको च रामगामम्हि एको च वेठदीपके एको पावेय्यके मल्ले एको च कुसिनारके ||

one to the (kolis of) Ramgam, one to the (Brahmins of) Vetha-dvipa, one to the mallas of Pava, one to the (mallas of) Kusinara;

कुम्भस्स थूपं कारेसि ब्राह्मणो दोणसव्हयो अन्गारथूपं कारेसुं मोरिया तुट्ठमानसा ||

The brahmin Drona (who mediated) made a stupa over the pot (in which the bones were collected), the Moryas (of Pippalivana) contended themselves with building a stupa over the embers.

अट्ठ सारीरिका थूपा नवो कुम्भचेतियो अंगारथूपो दसमो तदा येव पतिट्ठितो ||

Eight stupas over the body (remains), ninth shrine over the pot, and tenth the stupa over the embers, this way were established

एका दाठा तिदसपुरे एका नागपुरे अहु एका गन्धारविसये एका कालिंगराजिनो ||

One tooth is in heaven, one in the land of the Nagas, one in Gandhar region (around Peshawar), and one (is worshipped by the) king of kalinga (Orissa).

According to the legend, the temple was built in the reign of King Tilokkarat of the Lanna Thai Kingdom. An ancient temple has a miracle because the Buddha's relics are reflected through a small hole in the window and appear on the floor of the ordination hall, where there is bright light all day and night. Artifacts that were dug and found in this area are displayed at the WatPhra That Chom Ping Museuem, including the Buddha image's head, stone bead bracelets, rooster bowls and bowls made from animal bones.Inside the temple, the Buddha's relics, 18 m wide and 34 m high, are enshrined.

"Spirit-powered mechanical robots"?

Under the heading "Spread of the relics by Ashoka", the second sentence of the first paragraph states "According to this text, the Buddha's relics were protected by spirit-powered mechanical robots..."(emphasis added) Assuming this is neither the result of vandalism nor a misreading of the original text, this is confusing. No specific source is provided for this claim, and it seems impractical to expect people to read the entire Lokapannatti to try to find the mention of this. Could someone familiar with the subject either flesh-out the description a bit, or provide in-line textual support? Because as it stands, the phrase "mechanical robots" in a 12th century CE text raises more questions than it answers. Bricology (talk) 21:59, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
