Republic Bank We Care Award
Republic Bank’s We Care Award ^[2] was founded to give recognition and appreciation to local companies whose employees are doing great things for local area communities. The award was created to publicly congratulate companies who stress the four elements contained in the We CARE name itself - Community, Activity, Recognition and Enterprise. The We Care Award was initially founded in 2005 and recognized companies in Louisville. In 2006, the award was expanded to also recognize companies in central Kentucky. The Republic Bank Foundation Commonwealth Scholarship Award Program ^[3] was founded in 2011. Republic Bank partners with the University of Kentucky to offer 20 four-year scholarships to students from the 12 Kentucky counties included in the bank's network. This scholarship is designed to increase access to higher education among local students who wish to earn a Bachelor's degree at the University of Kentucky. Each Republic Bank Foundation Commonwealth Scholarship provides $2,500 per year in a renewable annual scholarship; the total assistance for each student is $10,000 toward the cost of a four-year degree program. In 2012, Republic Bank awarded 20 scholarships. In June, 2003, Republic Bancorp announced the recipients of scholarship awards through its "Sons & Daughters Scholarship Program", to support 35 high school seniors, graduates, or college under-graduates each would receive $250 toward undergraduate tuition for the 2003-2004 school year.
