geography of usage[edit]

This term and the other related one ("call for bids" and "tendering") are not used equally around the globe. The article needs to tell the reader where they are commonly used. SmithBlue (talk) 23:46, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Should https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invitation_for_bid , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_for_bids , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Request_for_quotation , and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Request_for_proposal be merged, with a section in which the differences between them are explained? One good article might be better than four less developed ones. Davidlark (talk) 18:55, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Jim (talk) 18:28, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

RFQ vs RfQ[edit]

This article uses “RfQ” in the first section. I had been reading and writing requests for quotation since the 1960s and had always seen “RFQ”. I had not seen it abbreviated “RfQ” until today. I would prefer “RFQ” in this article (but this is of minor concern and usage certainly could have changed since my retirement). Same goes for “RfP”. Jim (talk) 18:27, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
