Place of birth and upbringing[edit]

An unregistered editor has changed the place of birth indicated in the infobox with the following edit summary:[1]

  • I am Rhys Meirion and I was not born and have never lived in Rachub, Bangor. I was born in Blaenau Ffestiniog and brought up mainly in Tremadog.

While this was probably added by Rhys Meirion, we cannot be sure and we need a reliable source, particularly for personal information about living people. Rhys Meirion: if you made this edit then please these details to your website or that of your agents; we could cite these as reliable sources. We sometimes also accept social media posts by the subject of an article, when it is clear that the account is authentic. I have deleted the place of birth from the infobox and the body of the article. Verbcatcher (talk) 18:43, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Verbcatcher, here are two sources confirming his birth place as Blaenau Ffestiniog: [2], [3] Here is a third source confirming he was born in Blaenau Ffestiniog, raised in Tremadog and now lives in Pwllglas, near Ruthin: [4]. Feel free to update the article with these refs.4meter4 (talk) 18:52, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • @4meter4: thank you, I have also been looking for sources. I found the aberystwythego article but I am unsure whether it is a reliable source. I have found a biography on the Sain site which confirms upbringing in Tremadog.[5]. Verbcatcher (talk) 19:01, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Verbcatcher Aberystwyth & Aberaeron EGO is a monthly magazine available in print and online. It is published by Cambrian Printers Ltd and the magazine has an editorial board and a full time staff of independent journalists. I would consider it a reliable source. Additionally, it's an interview with the subject with a named staff journalist doing the interview, and I see no reason to reasonably doubt it's veracity under wikipedia's policies at WP:Verifiability.4meter4 (talk) 19:29, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
        • @4meter4: EGO is printed by Cambrian Printers Ltd, but it does not appear to be published by them. It does not appear to be related to the Cambrian News, the local newspaper. However, I think it as an acceptable source. Verbcatcher (talk) 19:38, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
          • Ok. It looks like we solved the problem. Thanks for taking the initiative.4meter4 (talk) 19:45, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
