Revised Romanization[edit]

Based on my limited knowledge of Korean and the following Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_(Korean_surname) I think that the "Revised Romanization" of the family name in the Infobox should be "Ri", not "I". Requested move 17 September 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved, and the base name becomes a dab page between the two topics.  — Amakuru (talk) 20:11, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ri Yong-hoRi Yong-ho (general) – No evidence either the subject or Ri Yong-ho (diplomat) is the primary topic. See Talk:Ri_Yong-ho_(diplomat)#Requested_move_29_June_2018 - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 01:07, 17 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting.Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 13:00, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Coverage is about even. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 01:10, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support WP:NOPRIMARY, per nominator. Roughly equal in page views and amount of reliable source coverage. Ri Yong-ho should be a disambiguation page, and Ri Yong-ho (politician) should point there as {{R from incomplete disambiguation}} (as pointed out in the other discussion, both men are politicians). 59.149.124.29 (talk) 01:44, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Yes, coverage is about even, and so are page views, and so we're supposed to have a dab page per WP:TWODABS, but I'm of the opinion that users are better off with the current title than the proposed. Currently those searching for the general with "Ri Yong-ho" are taken directly to the article they are seeking. That's awesome for that half. Those searching for the diplomat are also taken to the general, but a hatnote link leaves them one click from their page. If we retitle per the proposal then nobody will be taken to the page they're seeking with "Ri Yong-ho", and everyone will be taken to the dab page where they are one click away. In short, the move makes no one better off, and about half worse off. That's counter-productive. I oppose per WP:IAR of WP:TWODABS guidance. --В²C 17:41, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • By the way, I'm assuming the move is proposed in order to create a two-entry dab page at the base name, though that was not specified in the proposal. Technically, what's being literally proposed is leaving the base name as a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT to the general, which is just silly. --В²C 17:44, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Relisting comment I am not convinced that an oppose based on ignoring the WP:TWODABS guideline is very solid. Regardless there is no harm in giving people time to debate the merits of the situation and to either rebut or support the IAR concept. I am relisting chiefly because the nomination does not make it clear this is intended to create a disambiguation page, and several people who participated in this other RM have not commented here yet. Possibly because no notification was placed on Talk:Ri Yong-ho (diplomat). — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 13:08, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
