ADCC[edit]

The article currently reads

He also won the Abu Dhabi Combat Club heavyweight championship in submission wrestling in 1999.

However, this is incorrect. According to the ADCC website, Rodriguez lost in the quarter finals of his weightclass to Sean Alvarez.[1] He also competed in the "Absolute" (open weight) division, where he lost in the semi-finals to Mach Sakurai.[2] However, he did win third place in the Absolute division.[3]

Checking the previous year's results, I see that Rodriguez also lost to Sean Alvarez in the finals of his weight class [4], but defeated Alvarez in the Absolute division finals.[5]

Accordingly, I will change the article to read:

He won the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship in the Absolute (open weight) division in 1998.

Thanks for getting that information and correcting the article. It's a big help. You might want to check out WP:CIT. It contains a bunch of templates on how to cite sources. It provides a lot more information than simply putting a URL in between brackets and will automatically put that information in the references section at the bottom of the article. You can also check out the edit I made to the article to see how sources can be formatted. Thanks again. --TreyGeek (talk) 01:18, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

J Sho 30 Sep 2011 I will amend this article - the adcc results listed on their own site are incorrect. Ricco won the +99kg title in 1998, beating Sean Alvarez in the final. He took third in the absolute in 1999 and was runner-up in +99kg in 2000. The 1998 absolute final was won by default by mario sperry when ricardo morais withdrew from the final due to injury.

BJJ World Championships[edit]

J Sho 22 Feb 2010 Ricco wasn't the first American to win a mundials title nor was he the only one to win one in 1997 - Egan Inoue and Sean Alvarez both won the mundials at blue belt in 1996 & Kendall Goo also won a blue belt gold in 1997 the same time as Ricco and Kai Garcia and Egan Inoue won purple belt golds in 1997 as well.
