what language and groups speiffically called it this, and what is the source for this? looking online mostly serves results that copy verbatim what this article says, and doesn't give any hint of where the name comes from, who uses it, and when the name is/was used.

also, the phrasing "Natives called it" feels rather dismissive of prior history, and I'd be interested in changing it to something less eurocentric, but I'm not sure how to go about that. Lynxano (talk) 15:18, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
