Selected works[edit]

After consulting the U.S. national library catalogue (LCC), I have replaced the heading Works with Selected works.

There are(were) seven titles in LCC but not listed here. I have added one of them as an alternate U.S. title (Cold Hazard) and added one Nonfiction title, Powered Ships (1975), that is evidently a distinct book. One more title seems clearly to be a distinct book, which I have not added.

  • UK 1969 compiler, Treasure and treasure hunters [1]

Here are the four other titles in LCC and not listed here, yet. None of the records clearly identifies a change of title (as for Cold Hazard), but some may be US editions of books that we list by other titles.

  • 1961/59, Ship afire! A story of adventure at sea
  • 1963/62, Trial trip
  • 1965/64, The big sea
  • 1966/63, Fight for freedom: An adventure of World War II

All four are US editions. "1966/63" means 1966 publication, 1963 copyright. I suppose that the copyright dates are UK publication dates.

Titles listed here and not in LCC.

  • (5) the earliest titles, namely Northern Maid, Sea Change, and the three North East England novels
  • The Lost Ship,
  • Island Odyssey
  • The Albatross.
