Arrested Development

His appearance on the episode "S.O.B.s" was as himself, which suggests he was also appearing as himself on "Exit Stragey." There is only a handwritten sign on the front of the podium that says "Professor Munch." In a show that above all else is noted for breaking the 4th wall, it would seem that he is appearing as Richard Belzer, celebrity and not John Munch. Hence, it cannot be considered part of the "Munch on other shows" tally. Left it alone for now however. RoyBatty42 23:00, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Persistent Vandalism

Perhaps a wikipedian could rollback the change made by anonymous poster 71.247.73.95, who vandalized his name? Thanks. Jdrb7 03:21, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm wondering if vandalism persists can steps be taken to discover the identity of the vandals and block them from the Wiki Community?

transitions

Doesn't Belzer wear transitional lenses in his glasses instead of just traditional sunglasses as the article states?

The article doesn't make it clear if he has the condition or his character. Could someone fix that? 128.158.145.51 16:08, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

EDITING HELP, PLEASE

I am uncertain about the protocol for noting a text error/lacuna. In the sentence:

"Both parents died while he was young: His mother died of cancer when Belzer [something missing here] and his father committed suicide when Belzer was 22."

occuring in the first paragraph, I have placed "[something missing here]" to note that something is missing there. Otherwise we have:

"Both parents died while he was young: His mother died of cancer when Belzer and his father committed suicide when Belzer was 22."

Thanks,

Why I removed the transcipt from this page

Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria specifically says that non-free content can only be used in the mainspace. Also, the previous revert reintroduced the POV-pushers. Cheers, faithless (speak) 20:23, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Is the spelling of Belzer's mother's name correct?

"Frances" vs. "Francis"? 24.3.65.68 (talk) 12:20, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Cat conspiracy theorist

struggling to find why this is in his cat, is there some content in the article to support this?--Halqh حَلَقَة הלכהሐላቃህ (talk) 11:35, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Film Credits

Jerry Belson as The Breather (credited as Richard Brando)is listed on the Student Bodies page. Incorrect info or error on that page? --Warcraftninjas (talk) 08:14, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Can't find any record of the movie "Man in the Moon"

I have removed the sentence that references the movie [(However, despite appearing as such in the film Man on the Moon, Belzer was not the first host of the show. That honor went to George Carlin.)] The link goes to a disambiguation page that does not list the movie. IMDB has no record of such a movie (nor is there anything even similar in his actor biography).Jennifer Brooks (talk) 17:59, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Bit late, but Man on the Moon is a 1999 film staring Jim Carey where Belzer appeared as himself - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0125664/. Joss (talk) 21:51, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Question

Belzer's appearance on Trial by Jury, which aired April 15, 2005, made him the third actor ever to play the same character in six different prime-time TV series. Who were the other two? -Branddobbe 06:09, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

John Ratzenberger and George Wendt played Cliff Clavin and Norm Peterson in Cheers (1982-1993), St. Elsewhere (1985), The Tortellis (1987), Wings (1990), The Simpsons (19940, and Frasier (2002) Liamdaly620 14:15, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

What about the awesome mockumentary "when cars attack" on his imdb page? Great episode, absolutely hilarious in irony ... it's not drunk drivers, its the cars that go rouge. This has to be added to his resume. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.35.96.35 (talk) 19:31, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Eye Condition?

Does he have some sort of eye condition? Every time I see him he has shades on. (Might be worth noting in the article if he does.)Rja13ww33 (talk) 02:58, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

"physical abuse"

The background section states that his mother was physically abusive. In the cited article says Belzer says that she hit him/physically disciplined him. Is there a cite that the discipline rose to "abuse", in a legal or other sense? Otherwise the section needs to be edited to avoid this accusation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.65.169.22 (talk) 06:30, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

It seems things like this are jumped upon nowadays, quite agree it's not 100% clear. The cited source refers to a 1993 interview where Leonard Belzer stated "Our mother didn’t know how to love her sons appropriately... She always had some rationale for hitting us" and "Richard said his comedy was a defense mechanism against their mom’s overly stern hand. 'My kitchen was the toughest room I ever worked. I had to make my mom laugh or I’d get my ass kicked,' Richard said of his mother, who died in 1964. 'I visited her grave nine years ago, and I said, ‘I forgive you,’ but it had no meaning because I didn’t forgive her'", but this is far from clear that this "stern hand" necessarily constituted "abuse" as opposed to "too-harsh parenting the Belzer brothers resented", although of course the lines aren't firmly established with regard to this kind of thing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.68.218 (talk) 02:56, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

Talk Show Host?

I seem to remember him hosting a short-lived late-night talk show at one point, maybe around 1990? Seemed like it was either on ABC or syndicated. Am I wrong? Jafafa Hots 06:10, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

It was earlier than that. I recall it because he once had Hulk Hogan as a guest in the mid-80's. Hogan demonstrated a sleeper hold on him that knocked Belzer out, causing him to fall to the floor unconscious and bust his head open. He later sued Hogan, but IIRC, it was settled out of court. RevAladdinSane 03:42, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

On June 23, 2008, Belzer stated on the Howard Stern Show that the Hogan settlement totaled $400,000. (207.119.26.39 (talk) 02:37, 24 June 2008 (UTC))

Belzer was part of a morning radio team with Scotty Brink, "Brink and Belzer" in the late 70s on WNBC 660 NYC during the period when Don Imus was rehabilitating himself in Cleveland. Anyone have specifics?

Hot Properties (sitcom) is a cancelled ABC sitcom featuring Nicole Sullivan and Sofía Vergara. Richard Belzer was never part of it.

Hot Properties (talk show) had Belzer as host for at least one episode. RevAladdinSane is correct about that incident which did occur on Hot Properties. Here is proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP7u5Djca3o. He was host until he was "hurt."

Also, he hosted the Richard Belzer Show. https://www.nytimes.com/1984/11/19/arts/tv-review-richard-belzer-show-comedy-series-on-cable.html Weird that this is omitted here. I remember it as being very weird and funny. Retinoschisis (talk) 17:10, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
