Pedigree[edit]

The Pedigree of the Family of Meares, etc, published by Rev. Robert Meares in 1901 and taken from family genealogical sources, has different parentage for Richard Goldsmith Meares. In this, William Meares (born 1750), of Killinboy, County Westmeath, was married to Elizabeth Rochfort, and by her had son George Rochfort Meares and daughter Jane Meares. The same document states that it was William's brother, George Monroe Meares (22 October 1752 - 1841), who married Susannah Goldsmith and was the father of Richard Goldsmith Meares.
