Birthplace[edit]

According to The Guardian he was born in Eccleshill, we have it as Baildon? -- Joolz 14:23, 13 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have seen other sources, including Channel 4, say Baildon was his birthplace, although most just say Bradford. The Yorkshire Post obit says he was brought up in Baildon. The original Guardian report (to which your linked article is an erratum) says that that he was born in north Yorkshire (without specifying where), and that the family mill was in Eccleshill. The correction seems to (incorrectly, I believe) assume that his "birthplace and home" was Eccleshill. The best place to check would be his autobiography, I suppose. -- ALoan (Talk) 20:34, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He was also the slowest person in "Top Gear"'s "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car"...81.145.242.26 (talk) 19:45, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Lance Tyrell[reply]

Partner[edit]

I am confused about this. AFAIK, Whiteley was self employed throughout his life: he did not have a partner. However, he did have a girlfriend. Why does her name appear next to the word "partner". Also, if they were not married, is their relationship notable? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.97.18.12 (talk) 17:52, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

gf and bf are often referred to as partner. Partner exists as a relationship status, covering gf, bf, married people and things inbetween. It is used on offical forms as well as people in conversation. It is the word to use.
Knowing nothing about Whiteley's relationships, I'm unable to judge it's merit in this case. Nor the notability of the relationship. That they were not married is of no relevance to that.

Cause of Death[edit]

For the purpose of continuity within the page, CoD has been changed to Endocarditis. The main information states he recovered from Pneumonia but died post-operation for Endocarditis. Grez868 (talk) 01:18, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
