Laurel and Wading River[edit]

From our maps it appears as though Laurel is completely in Southold and Wading River is completely in Riverhead. Does anyone have indications that they cross town boundaries? Backspace (talk) 06:09, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of what maps do you speak? If you look on each town's website, they provide a list of the villages and hamlets within them, and usually if it is only a part of the hamlet. --Zimbabweed (talk) 06:12, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Laurel and Wading River are not incorporated so they do not have formal legal boundaries. In such cases the Census Bureau tries to keep unincorporated areas wholely within one jurisdiction or the other that it is counting. Americasroof (talk) 19:49, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Things to do part seems a bit biased[edit]

The graduate programs include the Homeland Security Institute, rated the strongest program in the nation; creative writing, marine biology, and environmental protection.

Riverhead is the home each summer of the Long Island Blues Festival and the Polish festival. There is an aquarium called Atlantis Marine World. There is also a train museum, the water park Splish Splash, Riverhead Raceway, and the Tanger Outlet Mall. Riverhead is home to at least eight 18-hole PGA rated golf courses.

Race demographics vandalism[edit]

This might be of some use (from the 2010 US Census:

The racial makeup of the town was 82.7% White, 7.7% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 1.1% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 5.8% from other races, and 2.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 13.9% of the population.

Other communities[edit]

FYI, Polishtown, is actually a section of the Hamlet of Riverhead (http://www.townofriverheadny.gov/pView.aspx?id=3850&catid=121), (http://www.polishtowncivicassociation.org/).
