Notability[edit]

FWIW, this is the name of a better-known Linux anti-malware package. (For lack of a better description). Note to admins, please resist deleting this until someone finds the time to update it. Additional information can be found by following the article's link to SourceForge, and by running a Google search and the keyword, "links:" with the parameter for the links: keyword being the sourceforge URL. (IMHO)

  • Added some .gov references recommending use of rkhunter, the Linux foundation's latest workstation hardening guide refers to using rkhunter too, all of these refer to rkhunter as if it is expected to be recognized by the reader, so I think this helps imply that an encyclopedia reference is worthwhile? FWIW, as well, this is a standard security programme you'd expect Linux distributions to provide (and probably BSD distros etc., too) and included in every set of forensic software for Unix-based systems I've seen. If any malware-detection programme can satisfy the criteria for inclusion in the wiki, then this one should. Aside from clamav, which is more for the protection of other users than those of Unix-based systems themselves, rkhunter is as standard as it gets when it comes to cleaning out malware on Unix-based systems. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.5.90.254 (talk) 18:48, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
