The section on how much US workers get needs a clean up and information from other countries should be included. Addhoc 11:02, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Added Australia[edit]

I've rewritten the intro and added quite a bit about Australian Traffic Control. I've also deleted one pic which wasn't relevant, and a UK outlink which wasn't relevant after my rewrite.

I'm going to propose a RENAME to "Road traffic control" once we get the proposed merge out of the way. Gordon | Talk, 11 October 2006 @05:51 UTC

Germany?[edit]

Should not Germany get a mention? I seem to remember that they were recently top in some EU report for managing this sort of thing. Idg555 16:57, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problems. Find someone who knows German Traffic Control, and persuade him/her to write it up. Easy. Seriously, the more the merrier: it's a bit sad that only Oz has a decent representation on this page.  Gordon | Talk, 12:07, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I was just following a link and the uk was 3rd in the report (RAC?) We need a german speaker. I only do french and swedish!?! well badly anyway Idg555 23:44, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed RENAME to "Road traffic control"[edit]

The term Traffic control covers a multitude of sins, including -- but not limited to -- air travel, computers, sea travel and peak-hour traffic management.

This article specifically looks at vehicular traffic control around road-work sites and off-road construction sites which impinge on road users.

Therefore -- to differentiate it from other valid "traffic control" subjects, I propose renaming it to Road traffic control. Gordon | Talk, 12 October 2006 @12:42 UTC

RESULT[edit]

Proposal and one support in one week. The page has been renamed. I will build a disambig page in the very near future. Gordon | Talk, 19 October 2006 @12:37 UTC

Discussion of Temporary versus Permanent Traffic Control[edit]

The term Road Traffic control could be used for both temporary and permanent traffic control measures. Either this page needs to be renamed to Temporary Traffic Control, or it should be better defined in the article. Most, if not all, of the content discusses temporary traffic control measures. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.180.47.163 (talk) 17:19, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be called Temporary road traffic control. It is specifically used for temporary controls of roadworks. So both "temporary" and "road" should be on the title. Z22 (talk) 17:16, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal (adaptive traffic control)[edit]

Someone tagged that Adaptive traffic control should be merged into this article. Editors may provide inputs below:

  • Oppose: This article talks about (human) traffic controllers and other equipment to temporary manage traffics such as at a road work site. The adaptive traffic control is all about computerized control of the traffic lights based on sensors and other inputs to optimize the traffic flows. Totally two separate subjects.
