The article described a man born 26 years after Allerton, as Allerton's "lifelong partner".
Impossible!
Rewording to "life partner" appears preferable, in that it (1) reflects that their relationship was personal partnership, not business partnership, and (2) in the absence of any biographical detail about other relationships, pretty well implies the continuity of the relationship in the same way as "lifelong partner".
Would be interesting to learn whether there is Wikipedia style/usage guidance concerning the use of "lifelong" in biographical articles. Here, I am just relying on reader's instinct. Publius3 (talk) 22:47, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. The "life partner" would have been in his twenties and early thirties. They were described as homosexual lovers in a Chicago magazine, but since Allerton was 26 years older, he was old enough to be his real father! (not that there is anything wrong with that).
