Subject previously deleted[edit]

An article on this same subject was deleted in 2007 (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert E. Odlum). It is my hope that the level of detail of my article will enable it to be retained, although I will understand if it is deleted. Also, Odlum was the brother of the famous reformer Charlotte Odlum Smith, on whom an article did not yet exist in 2007 because the biography of her by Autumn Stanley had not yet been published. Is the quote correct?[edit]

Article states "Despite his success, in spring 1881 Odlum began to grow restless in his position. According to the biography later written by Odlum's mother, on July 13, 1881, he "challenged any man in the United States to swim him for from $250 to $500 a side", but no one would take up the bet. " I don't understand the challenge and was wondering if it is complete and correct. Delta494 (talk) 22:15, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good question. I included an exact quote of the statement from the biography because I didn't understand the challenge, either, and therefore couldn't paraphrase it. Gildir (talk) 04:19, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
