"Robert Greenshields Meikle, b. 29-Sep-1831 in Lachute, Que., baptized 5-Nov-1831 in Lachute, Que., d. 9-Apr-1901 in Smiths Falls, Ont., occupation MPP, banker at Lachute. MPP for Argenteuil in the Quebec Legislature cir. 1878. In the 1871 census, St. Jerusalem, Page 66, Family 235, Robert is listed as lliving with John Meikle, age 76 and Margaret Todd, age 4. In the 1881 census he is living with the family of James D. Wells and Mary J.G. (Meikle) Wells (Ste Jerusalem, Dist 96 SubDist A Page 24 Family 121). He married Allison McKay, married 8-Sep-1886 in Ottawa, Ont., b. 19-May-1851 in Bytown, Upper Canada, (daughter of Thomas McKay and Margaret McFarlane) d. 18-Apr-1935 in Ottawa, Ont.
