Untitled[edit]

This is a bio/profile of a CEO of a prominent public company. The company, Cognex Corporation, is a 26 year old company listed on the NASDAQ exchange and the leader in the industry of machine vision. Similar to other CEO's such as James Truchard of National Instruments, this should meet the Wikipedia criteria for a person entry. Thank you.

Dr. Shillman is a pioneer in the area of machine vision technology. He founded Cognex, which was the first company to commercialize machine vision technology. Machine vision is now a huge industry that allows consumers the benefit of error free products because vision sensors inspect every part, rather than the random inspections done previously. This has had significant impacts on the evolution of quailty control. Millions of products are made error-free every day by companies that rely on Cognex vision to control their manufacturing processes, inspect products, and ensure accurate assembly and packaging.

In additon, Dr. Shillman is known for his philanthropic efforts. He was profiled in an article in the Wall Street Journal regarding his unique management style and philanthropic activities. He also participates in promoting entrepreneurship around the world.

Dr. Shillman is also known for his courageous stand against patent trolling. In 2004, Cognex won an intellectual property victory when a federal judge ruled in Cognex's favor in a patent lawsuit brought against the estate of the inventor Jerome H. Lemelson, who had filed dozens of submarine patents, some of which purported to cover machine vision processes. The patents were held invalid. on Political Activities[edit]

I moved information about Mr. Shillman's clearly political activities from the sections on 'Philanthropy' and 'Professional Recognition' to a new section on 'Political Activities'. The only other change I have made is to delete the undocumented and, by its nature, subjective assertion that he believes in 'Tikkun Olam', since not only is it not possible to objectively assert what a person believes. but no citation is provided to show that he even asserts such a belief.Aarons510 (talk) 06:03, 19 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
