Place of birth[edit]

There had been confusion around the place of birth and it was incorrectly read as "British Guinea" (now Guinea-Bissau), when in fact it was "British Guiana" (now Guyana). The Ancestry.com has a Robert Theophilus Bess petition for naturalization record from Britain and also read he was born in Plaisence, British Guiana. • Was the Hand of Ethiopia (sp?) a speech or a book? I don't think O could find a boom but the speech he delivered is quite interesting. FloridaArmy (talk) 03:16, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jr. and Sr.?[edit]

If his father was also named Robert T. Bess why weren't they Jr. and Sr.? His father was a lawyer? Was that someone else? Are we sure his father was named Robert T. Bess? How much do we know about the father? FloridaArmy (talk) 04:02, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know there was no jr. or sr. suffix used, and it does not appear that his father lived in the United States. I didn't find anything stating he was a lawyer, but he "represented" clients with his PR business (and/or other businesses). PigeonChickenFish (talk) 04:15, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I found a source calling him Jr. BD2412 T 02:04, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Self promotion[edit]

Based on what I was aboe to find out about him Inthink we need to be careful about how he promoted himself verse who he actually was and what he did. What can we find out about his brokerage? FloridaArmy (talk) 04:03, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@FloridaArmy:, in later life 1940s-1950s, he had some sort of business related to various small community-based civil rights organizations and larger orgs like NAACP, it was unclear what he did exactly (possibly PR? or politics? I removed that section until it could be clarified and supported). The stockbroker career was for approx. 10 years, I would imagine the Great Depression had some impact on that career.
