Dr Hume[edit]

Probably John Robert Hume. ODNB is no help, but [1] confirms he was in Egypt in 1801. Needs more work. Charles Matthews (talk) 21:22, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seems conclusively shown by sources [2] and a snippet [3]. Sources for the History of Cyprus: English texts, Frankish and Turkish periods p. 134 says John Robert Hume or Joseph Hume, but s:Hume, Joseph (DNB00) makes it clear enough Joseph Hume would have been in India. There is actually an internal reference [4] to "Dr. John Hume". And a further reference in a work by Clarke to "Mr. (now Dr.) John Hume, the skilful surgeon of [the Ceres]".[5] Charles Matthews (talk) 15:57, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
