Son of John, or of George?[edit]

Robert Young was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, the son of John Young a book-binder on Parliament Square on the Royal Mile.[1]
Robert Young,... son of George Young, manager of a flour mill, was born in Haddingtonshire...[2]
  1. ^ Edinburgh Post Office Directory 1822
  2. ^ Dictionary of National Biography
So, either the DNB was wrong, or the Wikipedia-editor made a wrong conclusion from the Edinburgh Post Office Directory. Who can check this? Mendelo (talk) 16:05, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

After 1888[edit]

He dies in 1888. An editor added these children:

Robert (1881), Jane Eliza (1924), Margaret (1924), George Adam (1928), Katherine Agnes (1938), Annie (1938), John Henry (1939)

Can someone explain what those years mean? Not the year of birth. Katherine Agnes was born in 1866. Mendelo (talk) 09:08, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, these names come from this memorial stone: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Young_(biblical_scholar)#/media/File:Rev_Robert_Young's_grave,_Grange_Cemetery.JPG
So these must be the years they died. Mendelo (talk) 16:37, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
