Why is Jehovah's Witness meeting hall mentioned?[edit]

Is there some reason a Jehovah's Witness "Kingdom Hall" is mentioned in this article? Does it have some historical interest, or is it just one of hundreds of such meeting places all over America, analogous to run-of-the-mill churches or synagogues?
