Duterte

I am not a liberal spouting hyperbole. The man admitted it himself. https://www.telesurtv.net/english/analysis/-Duterte-Admits-Fascism-Vows-Defeat-of-Communist-Terrorists-and-Crackdown-on-Left-20171121-0038.html

Either way, he checks all of the boxes, except, perhaps, for his economics, but corporatism isn't a necessary component of fascism. He is otherwise textbook. Fascism isn't a slur for "bad guy;" fascism is a specific set of political ideologies. Idiots do not appear to realize this, so I expect pointing out that the man is a fascist will not go over well with idiots.

This should be mentioned in the article. I do not feel like getting into an editing war with a radical centrist manchild or a far right propagandist, however. One of you fanatical editors who spends all their time going back and forth with drooling idiots should do it.

This is the same guy who admitted to be a socialist/leftist. But this seems to be another rhetoric to the communist rebels mocking their usual rhetoric of tagging presidents of the country including his predecessors as runners of a "fascist US Regime". Like his previous self-label as a socialist, this should be independently verified by non-interested sources. In short we need sources supporting Duterte as an actual fascist by ideology and not fascist as a caricature evil authoritarian despot (or the "bad guy") as you said. Determining Duterte's ideology ourselves by "ticking the checkboxes of a person who is fascist" is Original researchHariboneagle927 (talk) 16:28, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

According to the New York Times, Duterte admitted to killing someone as a teenager. “When I was a teenager, I had been in and out of jail, rumble here and there,” Mr. Duterte said during a speech to Filipinos in Danang, Vietnam. “At the age of 16, I already killed someone.” It is unknown whether Duterte was embellishing or being facetious. According to his spokesman, Harry Roque, the comment was meant to be a joke. Duterte also has a tendency to exaggerate according to officials close to him. It may have been in jest because it was received with applause and laughter. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/10/world/asia/philippines-president-duterte-killed.html Jasonpowell25 (talk) 01:38, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

Not done: Please get consensus on this talkpage and frame how to write the statement. Also note that; it is not every verifiable statement that is included in Wikipedia. It is what supposed to be according certain principles –Ammarpad (talk) 13:11, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
This seems to be an already age-old issue. This was corroborated by his other interviews with BBC and Al Jazeera, I think, which he refers to in passing whenever he states he shot or killed someone when he's young. His previous spokesman and presidential communications head, Martin Andanar, already stated that everything Duterte said is true whenever the topic of Duterte's self-confessed killings is brought up by the press. Besides, Duterte's fans have a tendency to laugh at anything that passes off as a joke, including but not limited to rape, violence, masturbation, bombing schools and whatnot. Duterte's newest appointed spokesman, Harry Roque is a human rights lawyer who is also preparing for Duterte's legal defense in the International Criminal Court. Thus, political experts speculates that Roque's currently trying to clean up Duterte's image. Some also say that Roque wants to become a senator through Duterte's backing. [1]. Reviews needed of some articles related to Rodrigo Duterte

Looks like these articles are being used to attack or promote their subjects. I've removed large sections of the articles as a stopgap.

My attempts to get help at BLPN and Tambayan Philippines Project haven't resulted in much so far. I'm trying to use the Tambayan Philippines Project as the main location for discussion. --Ronz (talk) 16:50, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

Duterte's grandchildren

So about a week ago, I edited a portion talking about Duterte's grandchildren to update it. Currently, he has 10 grandchildren namely: Isabelle, Omar Vincent, and Rodrigo II (children of Paolo Duterte & his former wife Lovelie Sangkola); Paolo II and Sabina (also of Paolo and his 2nd wife January Duterte); Mikhaila Maria, Mateo Lucas & Marko Digong (children of Sara Duterte & her husband Manases Carpio; Bella (child of Sebastian Duterte with his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Basilio) and Yair (also of Sebastian with current girlfriend Kate Necesario). A day later it was removed and the outdated info is currently back. The editor said that I should find sources to back up my claims but I could not find anything that specifically mentions that he has 10 grandchildren. But as logic suggests, if you count his grandchildren which I named here, you would arrive at the conclusion that he indeed has that ten. Is it okay to update this part without including sources or citations?

Also, the part about the exact split of Muslims/Christians has to be deleted or at least edited since with the addition of more grandchildren after the article's publishing in 2015, there seems to be no info about their respective religions. -Howhontanozaz (talk) 16:36, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

Honorific suffix and prefix

User:JasonBalagtas, please tell me why you have decided to revert my edit, since Duterte goes by several styles as President, and he has a separate list in the article about his honours and awards. I do not see it fit to add just those in the infobox, however adding all his prefix styles and suffixes would be a violation of Wikipedia style policy. --Jeremy (Message) 10:38, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

Numbeo as a source in #Law and order?

This cannot possibly be acceptable as a source for statistics of any kind. We don't even use this crowd-sourced stuff for game and movie reviews. WP Ludicer (talk) 05:23, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

When you search Philippine idiot our president gets to rankings through wikipedia. Do you know how bad is that for people searching google. My request is to remove all idiot keyword in this WIKI! I hope you take actions. He wont rank on those keywords if there is no "idiot" word included in the article. Of course he would appear when you search philippines, to counter this "possible" attack. Please remove the word idiot in this article. All of it. 49.145.234.181 (talk) 09:40, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Not done: The only mention of the word "idiot" is a sourced quote of Duterte referring to Colombian President César Gaviria as such... Jack Frost (talk) 11:32, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Please drop the "His Excellency" honorific from the infobox; Duterte has recently told media (and has repeatedly done so in the past) that he rejects being addressed as "His Excellency" or "The Honorable" in favour of being called "Mayor": https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/06/05/20/call-me-mayor-duterte-rejects-being-called-your-excellency 112.201.140.171 (talk) 05:40, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

Please add the following information and citation into the second paragraph of Section: Human Rights Concerns:

In September 2021, the ICC ordered an "official probe" into the possible human rights violations committed by Duterte. Judges reviewed evidence related to at least 204 victims. Prosecutor Karim Khan is expected to lead the investigation.[1]

(It's possible that the word "victims" might violate WP:NPOV. However, that is what the source article calls them.)
