Better source[edit]

I've found a better source[1] than the one given in the article[2] for the March 1979 article by Alfred van der Poorten "A proof that Euler missed ... Apéry's proof of the irrationality of ζ(3)". The existing one is to a web-page copy of the original journal article, but the encoding is defective, since no common encoding correctly displays, for example, the symbol "ε". The suggested replacement is a PDF file whose 9 pages contain image copies of the original journal article's pages 195-203; as such, certain symbols such as "ε" are rendered unambiguously and quite clearly.

But before replacing the source, I decided to check:

  1. whether there's an archived copy of the PDF file, in case that disappears – there is[3]; and
  2. whether I can find the original article itself – I still need to complete this step.

For the moment, I'm just documenting those references here. yoyo (talk) 12:55, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, the original[4] is behind a paywall :-(. yoyo (talk) 13:00, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And Unpaywall[5] tells me that it "can't find any legal open access version" of the paper. Does this mean that the copies I've found aren't legal? yoyo (talk) 02:11, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
