Conqueror's nephew[edit]

I've read in a local history book, that Poitevin was the "maternal nephew of William the Conqueror". It's quite a bold claim, and is one that is not currently mentioned in this article. Can anybody confirm this, or elaborate upon it? --Jza84 | Talk 12:16, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to have a look at "The Origins of Some Anglo-Norman Families," a work by David C. Douglas and Lewis C. Loyd. That should have something on the subject and is extremely definitive. Just google that title. The book is online and searchable. In short, there was a relationship between William the Bastard's (i.e., Conqueror) family and that of Montgomery, but it was a bit further removed than your local history book suggests, I think.MarmadukePercy (talk) 18:30, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
