ro^le[edit]

does the word ro^le have the same meaning as the word role? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.3.16.2 (talk) 02:42, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1: I'll have to come back and finish the interactionist section. Unless someone gets here first, of course.

2: Is there an anthropologist in the house? I'm not competent to take on "role" from an anthropological perspective. Tannin 15:26 Jan 17, 2003 (UTC)

Somebody needs to redo "Role in Anthropology"[edit]

The current section is about various roles in the study of the subject, not about the concept of role in anthropology.-Mysterious Stranger

I was looking up this topic for a college writing class that incorporates the writing and editing of wikis into the curriculum. I came here for a start on a paper and found the information within somewhat disappointing. Can anyone point me in the right direction to research this topic? I'd be willing to add what I find to the page's content. --EJ Shkuh 23:06, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Function?[edit]

Where does the 'function' paragraph come from (pasted below). It is randomly placed on this page (2nd paragraph) and has nothing to do with 'Roles' -- unless I am missing something... <<A function is part of an answer to a question about why some object or process occurred in a system that evolved or was designed with some goal. Thus function refers forward from the object or process, along some chain of causes to the goal or evolutionary success. For example, the function of chlorophyll in a plant is to capture the energy of sunlight for photosynthesis, which contributes to growth and reproduction, and reproduction contributes to evolutionary success. Compare this to the mechanism of the object or process, which looks backward along some chain of causation.>> 69.109.123.115 17:34, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Chloe[reply]

the state of this page[edit]

So, after following a trail of unrelated copyright violations, I found Role and my heart sank... I was finding that the test of the article duplicated other wikipedia articles in large segments with no links... the best way i can describe it is if you took all the article for topics related to Role and pasted them together into the same document. It looks like the article was part of some class project... so probably made in good faith, but attempting to reintegrate it into Wikipedia is going to be a lot of work. Looking to pull in some interest from here...--Marcinjeske (talk) 13:16, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rename Social Role /Disambiguate[edit]

I think by WP:COMMONNAME this page should direct to Character (arts), and the content of this page moved to Social Role. Otherwise a disambiguation page may be in order. Ethanpet113 (talk) 02:36, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
