To enhance this article, I suggest adding Epictetus introduction of Role Ethics to Stoicism. “ One of the innovations that Epictetus brought to Stoicism is the development of a sophisticated “role ethics,” an approach to ethics based on taking seriously the different roles we all play in life: the general role of a human being in society at large; roles that we choose for ourselves, such as being a father, or a friend; and roles that the circumstances assign to us, such as being a son or daughter.
