Untitled[edit]

This article should be renamed to accurately reflect the diocese's name, with the prefixed addition of "Roman Catholic" to conform to Wikipedia usage. The proper name of this canonical jurisdiction is Diocese of Joliet in Illinois - not Diocese of Joliet. It is the ordinary practice of the Catholic Church not to style a newly-erected diocese by a geographic name already assigned to an extant jurisdiction - in this case, the rule is invoked in favor of the Diocese of Joliette in Canada. July 2021 Latin Church revision[edit]

As of July 2021, this article was modified to eliminate the nondescript term "Roman Catholic" in favor of the more precise distinction of "Latin Church" (the sui iuris church) and "Catholic Church" (the denomination). If you believe this edit to be in error or improper, please make the relevant reversion and open discussion on this talk page or my personal talk page. Thank you. ~ Pbritti (talk) 21:59, 17 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
