Sorry, but the merger decision is something of a nonsense. All of other women's sevens tournaments (indeed rugby tournaments generally) have separate pages from their men's equivalents. Either all should be merged, or none should - to randomly merge one tournament but not the rest is inconsistent.
The main problem seems to be an objection to the page being called the "Roma Sevens" - but that is what the event is called on its English language webpage ([1]) - and in all other publicity and news articles (for instance Scrumqueens - the game's leading English language website). I fail to see why Wikipedia should give the tournament any other name.

Wikipedia is never going to be consistent due the simple fact that it allows anyone to edit it and people have different ideas on how information should be presented. Also it is not as simple as merging all or none, as some will be notable enough to stay by themselves while others would work better as a section in another article. As to the name, that is a bone of contention here and many battles have been fought over such things as Novak Djokovic or Novak Đoković, Côte d'Ivoire or Ivory Coast etc. Currently the guideline says to use what reliable English sources call it, but in the end it will come down to what WP:Consensus decides. The telegraph [2] uses Roma sevens, while the BBC [3] says Rome sevens so it could go either way. AIRcorn(talk) 05:01, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
