Accuracy[edit]

The article talks about a 6 fig grid reference covering 10,000 metres squared, but with a romer 8 figure grid references are possible on 1:25,000 which only cover 100 metres squared.Jellyfish dave (talk) 11:05, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may need to be clearer with your units. The article is not talking about (10,000 metres) squared; it is talking about 10,000 square metres, or (100 metres) squared. The accuracy of measurement being discussed is to 100 metres (which would be 4mm on the 1:25,000 map). I assume that you are talking of interpolating further between the marks on the romer, to a distance of 0.4mm on the map, to give an accuracy of 10 metres on the ground, so an area of 100 square metres?
