Rifle instead of man[edit]

The majority of this article covers information on Barrett's most famous invention, the M82 (rifle) rather than the man himself. I suggest deleting the duplicated material and trying to include more about the man himself. What does anyone else think? Also, I'm not conviced of the accuracy of the article anyway, e.g. the statement "It fires a six-inch long bullet, has a very low recoil..." - the bullet is a .50 BMG which is 12.7mm x 99mm (approximately 4 inches) and the gun kicks like a mule when it's fired. Barrett being on the board of the National Rifle Association should lend the man some notability that just being CEO alone might not. At least, that's what I think. I edited the page a bit, trimmed the fat, changed the tone to be more encyclopedic. Hope that helps. T-Nod (talk) 17:36, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not Sure[edit]

'The designer of the first .50 caliber rifle for civilian use'- this quote is taken from para 1 of the article - the intro. Does it mean that there were .50 caliber rifles for military use before the Barrett came along ?

Also, in response to other comments, I would say to other editors: Do not forget that Mr Barrett is notable because of his design.

Some facts[edit]

There were many instances of a .50 caliber rifle for civilian use EG Winchester Model 1886. It might be that in invented the first civilian rifle to use the .50 BMG which was originally a military cartridge.

Hall of Mirrors is incorrect. The .50 BMG is 5.45" long. Close enough. Moreover that comment was probably referring to the length of the cartridge, not the bullet. Cory1968 2015/07/07 1113 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cory1968 (talk • contribs) 18:13, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
