_____Hi, I'm not a wikipedia user, and I don't know how to wikify an article, but I have some interesting information about Roosevelt Park. I've taken pictures of the Roosevelt Park fountain and a stone structure holding a dedication to: "the men of Middlesex County who donated their labor to develop this park in exchange for the benefits of relief received." _____What I suggest is that the fountain, which allegorically embodies leftist themes, the dedication to the workers who helped build the park and the origin of the park in a possible WPA project all point to a sort of leftist/Marxist character for the park. It might be interesting to view this within the context of communism in America during the 1930s. Also, according to Weird New Jersey www.weirdnj.com, the fountain is titled "Light Dispelling Darkness." I can't locate any plaques to confirm or dispell this info. _____I'd love to share information or pictures with anyone who knows more about who constructed the park specifically, where the will and money came from, and whether or not each landmark, (the level playing fields included) date from the same period. I’ll check back here periodically. Thanks very much.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.90.255.153 (talkcontribs)

Which Roosevelt?[edit]

This park was supposedly built in 1917, which is two years before Theodore Roosevelt died. Can someone confirm when the park was established, what it was initially called, if/when the park was named for TR and if/when that dedication was made? Also, Edison was called Raritan Township until the 1950s; was the park identified in the earliest days as being in Raritan Twp? I've also seen Menlo Park and Metuchen. I also noticed a reference to the park suggesting that it belonged to Roosevelt Hospital. Perhaps someone from the Edison-Metuchen Historical Society can add to this article or provide some details here for me to incorporate? Thanks. Pnoble805 (talk) 18:53, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
