Star Spangled Banner[edit]

Under that section of the article, it said she was spitting, and mimicking the Ball Players, and "barely singing the song", which I find odd, because I downloaded an actual clip of her from the incident, and she seems to sing the song straight-through, clearly .. Except for that horrible, bat-like minotaur raptor screech thing, you know. But, I also discussed it with an elder person (maybe around 80?), who said she had actually seen it, and that she didn't remember that happening. And that Roseanne even took singing lessons to prove that she wasn't disrespecting the Nation, but that she just .. Well, sucked horribly at singing. Anybody know what to make of this?..

Didn't she claim to be a lesbian, have multiple personality disorder, have been abducted by aliens and various other claims? I think there's some stuff missing here... Tuf-Kat 04:50, Aug 23, 2004 (UTC)

She also said she was abused as a child, and made much of growing up Jewish in Salt Lake City. RickK 05:18, Aug 23, 2004 (UTC)

Jewish in Salt Lake...That's hillarious.--Gbleem 06:06, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
She also claimed that her father masturbated in front of the family, and that she had recovered memories, back when that was trendy. Back in the day when people "worked" on recovering memories of childhood abuse, first remembering the easy ones, then the hard ones, until they had implicated their whole family and so could relax in the knowledge that their unhappiness was not their own fault, Roseanne was referred to as a "celebrity survivor".
She did survive celebrity, but barely. Just compare the photos from when she did the sitcom to recent ones. It's human vs. plastic. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.162.8.130 (talk) 19:46, 7 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Give me a break! Roseanne is an inspiration and her honesty is to be commended! These characters above seem to have nothing better to do than to try healing their own issues by hurting others. How sad indeed. Rosie....we love you!!! RS

In a 1991 People magazine interview, she claimed to have been an incest survivor, accusing both parents of physical and sexual abuse, charges which they have publically denied. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001683/bio Just in case you don't believe it. Seminumerical 09:58, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

I'm tagging this article for cleanup, as it reads like a tabloid article rather than an encyclopedia entry. I feel the emphasis should be more on her career than what Mick Foley says about her in his book (and I cannot for the life of me figure out why that was deemed relevent). -Fearfulsymmetry 02:41, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proper name of article?[edit]

Barr legally changed her name to ONLY "Rosanne", with no last name, many years ago. This has also been the name she has used professionally for some time. It seems, then, inappropriate that this article be called "Roseanne Barr". I am going to go about changing that.

As of her most recent HBO special, she is now being billed as/referred to as "Roseanne Barr". The title of the article should reflect this. - Chadbryant 07:30, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am inclined to agree, the article says she now goes by "Roseanne Barr" which I think most people know her as, as well. If there is not much chatter about the issue, I will change it back, otherwise, let's put it on the Wikipedia:Requested_moves page for an official discussion. I strongly feel that this page should be moved to "Roseanne Barr". Rhythmnation2004 03:45, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: petition[edit]

I'm not sure of the protocol for petitions, I'm inclined to leave it since it does represent a significant viewpoint related to the show. However, it should be noted that "it will get a lot of votes" in the edit summary restoring the link is non-NPOV -- Garfield226 18:16, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone know why attempting to access the Roseanne page prompts a warning of possible harmful content? (I haven't taken the risk.) Koro Neil (talk) 06:45, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
