Redirect from Rosey[edit]

Can this page be set up so ""Rosey" redirects here? Koberulz 13:20, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rosey is a disambig page the does have a link to this article --- Paulley 13:47, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I saw the disambig page, but I overlooked the link to Matt. Although the disambig is kind of pointless ATM, because neither of the other two pages exist. Koberulz 13:28, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First name clarification?[edit]

I see Matt, but is that short for Matthew or was he simply named Matt? Govvy 13:16, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does it matter? There's really no way to tell, it's irrelevant. Koberulz 14:34, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
His SLAM! bio says "Matthew". ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 15:06, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

This review is transcluded from Talk:Matt Anoa'i/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

Reviewer: Wizardman 19:25, 30 November 2009 (UTC) This article is good overall, though I do have a few concerns:[reply]

  • "He later began teaming with Samu as the Samoan Gangsta Party, using the name Mack Daddy Kane." Was this around the time Kane was starting to be used in WWF, or before that? Since if they were going around the same there may be name concerns. Probably nothing actually there though, so nevermind this one if it's a coincidence.
    • No, it wasn't. Glenn Jacobs debuted as "Kane" in 1997, Anoa'i used "Mack Daddy Kane" prior to 1996. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 23:43, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Anoa'i made his WWE debut on the July 22, 2002 episode of Raw with Ekmo as 3-Minute Warning, a pair of villainous savages." You mention Ekmo became Jamal later, but it should be done on first mention, since at first I couldn't figure out who that was. Did they actually go by Anoa'i and Ekmo in that first appearance? This paragraph implies it and I'm not sure if that's right.
  • I'd find someone to do a punctuation copyedit; I found several unnecessary commas.
  • "He teamed up with Suwama to wrestle in the 2006 Real World Tag League, and they got to the final, where they were defeated by Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan." This is placed in between a ouple sentences talking about him in 2007, which makes it kinda confusing.

I'll put this on hold and pass when this is fixed. Wizardman 19:25, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alrighty, I got most of them. I'll let 'Blue do the punctuation review. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 23:43, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. I'll pass it now, assuming good faith that the punc. copyedit will be done, since for all I know I got all those issues. Wizardman 23:56, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Matt AnoaʻiRosey (wrestler) – Per WP:COMMONNAME. His stint as Rosey in WWE is the only thing most wrestling fans know him for. GeicoHen (talk) 02:16, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nom. McPhail (talk) 18:56, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. "Rosey (wrestler)" cannot be the WP:COMMONNAME because nobody calls him that. Of course he uses Rosey as a stage name, but we can't use that title because there's already a dab page there, and natural disambiguation is preferred over parenthetical, so Matt Anoaʻi seems reasonable enough to me. bobrayner (talk) 21:55, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - Do people call Edge "Edge (wrestler)"? How about Kane and "Kane (wrestler)"? I'm not implying that "Rosey (wrestler)" is the common name, but "Rosey" is. --GeicoHen (talk) 01:34, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's strange, because earlier you said "Rosey (wrestler) – Per WP:COMMONNAME". If you'd rather move to "Rosey", that new target does have the advantage of being a more common name, but alas there's already a disambiguation page there. bobrayner (talk) 02:43, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - I'm not saying "Rosey (wrestler)" is his common name. (wrester) is just a disambiguator in this case, not part of his name. --GeicoHen (talk) 07:34, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Natural disambiguation is only recommended when there's a slightly less, but still fairly common alternative. In this case, his real name isn't common enough. InedibleHulk (talk) 11:53, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support He is best known as Rosie. Also, the suggestion that people are supporting this move are suggesting that Rosie (wrestler) is him commoname is a complete misreading of the arguments. That would be like suggesting that since the video game Contra is at Contra (video game) Wikipedia is declaring that (video game) is part of the game's title.--70.49.73.6 (talk) 23:08, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Parentage[edit]

Reference 60 does not clearly state that Matt is half Italian. Joe only states that he is himself half Italian. Given the difference in their ages (and build) it is possible (probable) that Matt is full Samoan and the two have different mothers --AndyCPrivate (talk) 13:24, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
