Untitled[edit]

"Cedar Point renamed the coaster Mantis (but the sound the coaster makes as the cars roll, originally intended to sound like a wailing banshee, remains)."

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the second part of that sentence is completely unsourced. From what I've read of B&M coasters, several (including Kumba and Raptor) make a loud roaring-type noise due to the way the track is constructed. Kendall 03:34, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit]

  • Just a minor thing, check if there are any pictures that show more of the layout of the coaster. It's fine if you can't find anything, its just a suggestion.--Dom497 (talk) 22:02, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I haven't been able to find any. There's quite a few on commons but I don't think they really show the coaster.--Astros4477 (talk) 22:33, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pointbuzz is a questionable source (Ref 3). I think a better, more reliable source should be found.--Dom497 (talk) 01:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I replaced it with the following source for the first one but I can't find a better source for the other three uses.--Astros4477 (talk) 01:22, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Unless there's some way to prove Pointbuzz is reliable, I'm going to have to say no.--Dom497 (talk) 02:46, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        • I've never had a problem with it in the past so why is its notability just now being questioned?--Astros4477 (talk) 02:51, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
          • Whatever, I'll let it go.--Dom497 (talk) 14:13, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ref 5 appears to be dead.--Dom497 (talk) 01:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Media day for Mantis was held on May 9, 1996 then Mantis opened to the public on May 11." - This sentence needs to be re-worded slightly.--Dom497 (talk) 01:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ref 6 does not mention purple supports.--Dom497 (talk) 01:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Fixed.--Astros4477 (talk) 01:28, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Sorry, but that ref doesn't seem reliable.--Dom497 (talk) 02:39, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        • Doesn't the picture itself prove the supports are purple?--Astros4477 (talk) 02:51, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
          • They look more blue to me, not a big thing anyways.--Dom497 (talk) 14:13, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The original name for this ride was to be Banshee, but the name was quickly changed when Cedar Point realized the full negative connotations of the word banshee. All 'Banshee' stickers, pins and other promotional materials that had been released were recalled. Many of the original souvenirs and materials were burned or destroyed. Some t-shirts featuring the original Banshee logo can still be found. The shirts were sent out to season pass holders for 1996 who purchased their season passes early." - All this needs a ref(s).--Dom497 (talk) 01:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Done.--Astros4477 (talk) 01:46, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • A random guy selling a t-shirt from ebay is supposed to be reliable? Sorry, nope!--Dom497 (talk) 02:46, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        • Well the ref proves that there Banshee t-shirts can still be found.--Astros4477 (talk) 02:51, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
            • Yes, but what about most of the other stuff being destroyed?--Dom497 (talk) 14:13, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "As the coaster's name was changed, so was its logo, to a praying mantis." - Needs a ref.--Dom497 (talk) 01:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • " The ride travels over the Iron Dragon roller coaster..." - Needs a ref.--Dom497 (talk) 01:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is Top Coasters a reliable site?--Dom497 (talk) 01:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • It seems reliable, all the information matches other sites.--Astros4477 (talk) 01:40, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have addressed or commented on all your comments.--Astros4477 (talk) 01:47, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There are still 3 issues I have regarding refs (take a look above).--Dom497 (talk) 02:46, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have passed the article.--Dom497 (talk) 14:13, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rougarou[edit]

Just as a note to everyone: I don't think we should move the page to "Rougarou (roller coaster" until Mantis closes in October.--Dom497 (talk) 20:39, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. FirstDrop87 (talk) 00:26, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We're just going to treat this the same as any of the Six Flags revamps of their wooden coasters, right? But with a name change of course. Hooky-i-vanisher (talk) 04:16, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mantis photos instead of Rougarou photos?[edit]

@GoneIn60: Any reason we want to favor older Mantis photos over newer Rougarou photos? Seems like all the Mantis photos are now less informative as they no longer represent the ride in its current form. --Varnent (talk)(COI) 20:17, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Varnent: Nope, you're right. I overlooked the fact that the previous photo was of Mantis. I reverted it back. Thanks. --GoneIn60 (talk) 21:34, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
