Did Bedlam never treat mental illness? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.80.147.142 (talk) 01:52, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, though the writers may consider Roundhill having precedence as Bedlam moved to their current location in the 1930's. It's a bit contrived though IMHO, to call Roundhill the "first" given the Bedlam organisation's significant history, not only chronologically speaking but in how it has contributed to psychiatry as a branch of medicine. Sadly, Roundhill got through to the main page. L-Bit (talk) 05:05, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The description recorded in the source did make a specific distinction between institutions of the Bedlam variety ("lunatic asylums") and the facility established at Round Hill. Apologies if anybody feels short-changed, but I am reflecting what is documented in the sources available to me. Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 12:46, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
