New Songs on Website??[edit]
On Adams' new website, there is a section called "cardinal radio" which enables you to play thru a few albums... there is one "album" there called "you are the audience"... with a bunch of weird songs... that i've never heard before... is this new material or am i just not that big a fan? ? if so, wiki should be updated -Amo
Yes, Adams recently released 11 new albums on his website. Read about it [here][1] I propose we add a section to the page covering this, as releasing 11 new albums at once is unheard of.
Associated acts[edit]
The associated acts in this article's infobox don't seem to follow the documentation at all. His bands make perfect sense and I don't object to them being included. But the rest?
- Jason Isbell is questionable. While it's true that both artists have toured together and had a close friendship at one point,[1] last time I checked, being (former) friends was not a criterion for associated acts. Otherwise, it would be a huge mess.
- Taylor Swift makes little sense. Ryan covering her album does not make her an associated act. They did write music together for the Red sessions, but never released it.[2] With Red (Taylor's Version) coming up, who knows what will happen to this music, but for now, this seems flimsy and premature.
- John Mayer is a somewhat similar (though not identical) situation to Jason Isbell, in that they're (likely former) friends and have shared the stage.[3] It is true that John has played guitar on "Fuck the Rain", or at least the 2019 version of it,[4] and possibly "Dreaming You Backwards" (this one seems to be mostly Reddit speculation),[5] but that amounts to session musician work and I don't think that warrants associated act status.
At least this is my understanding of associated acts. Before removing these people or otherwise making changes to the associated acts field, I would like to reach a consensus. I know that associated acts can be contentious (see Ariana Grande's talk page) so I would like to preemptively ask that everyone remain civil. - I agree with omitting all three of them, they do not meet the criteria, IMO. I would add Willie Nelson because Songbird (Willie Nelson album). DFS (talk) 15:35, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your feedback. I think Willie Nelson would also not fit, as the documentation asks to avoid "association of producers, managers, etc. (who are themselves acts) with other acts". As it's been a month and Red (Taylor's Version) is confirmed not to include the Ryan song, I will remove those acts. They can be readded if further discussion takes place later. Sexual misconduct and FBI investigation[edit]
The article summary states that "the release of [his] albums was indefinitely delayed after seven women came forward with sexual misconduct allegations against him. He later issued an apology, and the FBI cleared him of any potential criminal charges." However, as the section on the allegations describes it, the aforementioned FBI investigation was related to allegations that "Adams had committed a crime by engaging in sexually explicit communications with an underage fan"--there is no mention of the FBI clearing him of other sexual misconduct charges. Cf. LA Magazine: "nothing was found to prove a pattern of illegal behavior with underage girls, and the investigation was dropped in the fall of 2019. Adams’s lawyer was informed by the FBI in a phone call soon after."[1]
In my view the article summary invites readers to infer that the FBI's investigation was broader than it actually was, incorrectly suggesting that the FBI actively cleared Adams of charges relating to the unrelated allegations brought by Phoebe Bridgers, Mandy Moore and others. Ought/could the wording be changed to better reflect the reality of the situation? -- HeighHo talk 04:14, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

FBI Investigation[edit]
I removed the allegations related to the minor since it appears nothing came of it and the accuser changed their story.[2] I realize this is a bold change, but seems to fit with WP:BLPCRIME to error on the side of caution regarding serious allegations. Obviously some may disagree, but this article could use some summarizing. Nemov (talk) 20:12, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
