Founding[edit]

    • How does it get founded in 1934 when the Sprit of St. Louis flew in the late 20's? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.29.1.114 (talk) 08:40, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did you read past the first sentence? Ryan, previously best known for building Charles Lindbergh's transatlantic Spirit of St. Louis, had been owner or partner in several previous companies, one of which also bore the name Ryan Aeronautical. The Spirit of St. Louis, however, was not built by the final Ryan Aeronautical entity. If that isn't clear enough, we can try re-writing it to be more clear. The point here is to be understood by everyone. - BillCJ (talk) 12:35, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please check the T.C. Ryan entry for new sources relating to Ryan's relationship to the Spirit of St. Louis thru primary documents posted online. It is of a letter written by Charles Lindbergh to Donald Hall contesting the rumor that Ryan had a direct hand in the Spirit. Regarding this company that was founded in 1934, it has no relationship to the company that build the Spirit of St. Louis except that Ryan founded and sold it to Frank Mahoney. Thats a common error since the name changes at the time make it very confusing. Mahoney later changed the name after the Spirit landed in Paris. Later still, he renamed his company Mahoney-Ryan after his company that build the Spirit moved to St. Louis in 1929. Added the primary sources to this entry too. Perhaps it can be re-written to take into account the new sources? Also, I'm not sure why this entry is still stating that there are not citations? Any ideas? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Virtualn (talkcontribs) 07:04, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
