Notability of this mathematician has been questioned. According to WP:ACADEMIC "The most typical way of satisfying Criterion 1 is to show that the academic has been an author of highly cited academic work." His book General topology has 4658 citations according to google scholar [1]. Although I agree that it would be good to add some references to the article, I think that anyone working in general topology would agree, that he is an important person, most prominently due to his influential monograph. --Kompik (talk) 16:38, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
