Much of the information in these articles comes from the CIA World Factbook 2000 and the 2003 U.S. Department of State website.

I guess there should be seperate articles on São Tomé Island and Príncipe Island as well. And perhaps an reference to the Island of Annobón, Equatorial Guinea since they all belong to the same archipelago.

Can anyone provide a dettailed topografic map of the main island. I know it excists

Proposed WikiProject

In my ongoing efforts to try to include every country on the planet included in the scope of a WikiProject, I have proposed a new project on Middle Africa at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Middle Africa whose scope would include Sao Tome and Principe. Removed possible vandalism

I'm calling this "possible vandalism." I found the following unsourced sentence at the end of the article:

São Tomé and Príncipe is a major contributor of internet traffic to the weblog of New York Yankees pitcher Phil Hughes - between 500 and 999 visits a day!! Phil Hughes' weblog

I'm hesitant to call it outright vandalism because it may well be true and may well have been posted by a well-meaning individual, but it doesn't seem notable and isn't sourced. I'm putting it here for safekeeping. If we want to include it, we'll need to demonstrate its notability and give it a source other than Phil Hughes's blog (in accordance with no original research). —CKA3KA (Skazka) (talk) 20:02, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

São Tomé & Príncipe - former no. 1 cocoa producer?

It has been suggested to me (IFAD personal communication) that São Tomé and Príncipe (STP) was once the world's largest cocoa producer—1930s, maybe around 30,000 tonnes/year. Can anyone confirm this or advise a reference to global or STP historical cocoa production? Many thanks—GRM (talk) 09:23, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

user:Senator2029 asked on my own User Talk page for my sources for the IBB facility on São Tomé and the Cuban medical team. Here is the answer:

  • As to the IBB facility on São Tomé: I saw it with my own eyes. I have several photos on which the antennas do appear; I have to revise the photos though if there is one which shows the entry with the sign identifying the site as belonging to the International Broadcasting Bureau.
  • As to the Cuban medical team: the Cuban Ambassador to Angola and São Tomé (Pedro Ross Leal) told me so, and I also met in person the medical workers themselves.
    I happend to be in São Tomé on the occasion of the "tomada de posse" of Manuel Pinto da Costa.

The relay transmitting site on São Tomé is mentioned on this Web page of the IBB, and here and here one can find solicitations for building and security services for the São Tomé IBB station by the "Federal Business Opportunities" web page of the US government. IBB/VoA relay station

The geo coordinates given in the WRTH point to a wrong place, somewhere to the west of São Tomé in the ocean. The station is actually located here (shown on Google Maps). Google Earth points to a photo of the site, but I can't find a way to actually show the image. Time of photograph

The equator marked as it crosses Ilhéu das Rolas, in São Tomé and Príncipe. The shadow points SW, indicating that the Sun is several degrees North; likely late April or early August, about 1-2 hours before Noon.

Why didn't anyone think of checking the EXIF data of the photograph, which is plainly visible? It says very clearly that the picture was taken on 15 May 2003, at 10:58. JIP | Talk 09:35, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Saint Thomas and Prince?

I found the name "Saint Thomas and Prince" on the internet. So I searched it here and got here with Redirected from Saint Thomas and Prince. However, there's no mention why it is so. It might be because one version of discovery says it was St Thomas Day. So it might be a literal translation to English, though that's just a guess. 2001:999:10:74D:F1E5:E665:E902:C674 (talk) 21:49, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

The Correct English Name of This Country

The Portuguese name of this country is São Tomé e Príncipe. The name of this country in English is Sao Tome and Principe, with the word "and" replacing the word "e" and without any accent marks. That is the name that this country is known by in the United Nations. Wikipedia should change the spelling of this country's name, accordingly, in all of its references on the Internet.Atelerixia (talk) 06:08, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
