Errors in the article[edit]

The naming is wrong, a "SC Germania Hamburg" did never exist. The "SC Germania Wandsbek von 1887" emerged from an association of the two solely athletic clubs "Hohenfelder SC" and "Wandsbek-Marienthaler SC", both founded in 1884, under the ascendancy of the latter. By that time Hohenfelde was a small village incorporated into the City of Hamburg in 1874, while Wandsbek stayed as an independent city under prussian control just outside the eastern gates of Hamburg until the "Greater-Hamburg-Act" of 1937.

The second club of the subsequent fusion into the present "Hamburger SV" was the "Hamburger F.C. 1888", founded June 1st 1888 as a sole football club. This club decided to rename in February of 1914 into "Hamburger SV 1888", then merged with "SC Germania Wandsbek von 1887" begin of June 1919. Main aspect for this was the fact, that the "Hamburger SV 1888" possessed a large amount of resources, in financial terms as well as in sports grounds and facilities, but suffered from big losses of active members due to the Great War, while in Wandsbek the situation was just the opposite way around. During war times "Hamburger SV von 1888" had built a players community with SC Victoria Hamburg, but this club refused to merge in a members poll in early 1919.

The third member of this post-war-merge became "FC Falke 1906", a scholar sportsclub of the grammar school of Eppendorf, an urban district in the northwest corner of the City of Hamburg, suburbanised in 1894. This team moved to a new playground in the adjectant village of Stellingen in 1908, where the nowadays arena "Volksparkstadion" was later built.
